About the Golden Temple
                             Built in 1581 by Guru Arjan
                            Dev Ji, the 5th Sikh Guru. 
                             The temple is surrounded by a
                            large sacred water tank called the Amrit Sarovar (“Pool of Nectar”), from which the city
                            Amritsar gets its name. 
                             The upper floors of the temple
                            are covered with pure gold plating, giving it its famous name “Golden Temple.”
