Description
Badrinath (बद्रीनाथ) is one of the most sacred pilgrimage sites in India, located in the Chamoli district of Uttarakhand. It is one of the Char Dham (Badrinath, Dwarka, Puri, Rameshwaram) and also part of the Chhota Char Dham Yatra (Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri, Yamunotri).

the form of Badri Narayan.

3,133 meters (10,279 ft) in the Himalayas, along the banks of the
Alaknanda River.
The idol of Lord Badrinath is
made of black Shaligram stone.
Surrounded by majestic peaks,
especially Nar-Narayan Parvat and Neelkanth Peak.

A rock bearing footprints believed to be of Lord Vishnu.

Vasudhara Falls
A scenic waterfall, about 9 km trek from Badrinath.
Religious Significance
It is believed Lord Vishnu meditated here while Goddess Lakshmi took the form of a
Badri tree to shield him.
Visiting Badrinath is said to wash away sins and grant liberation (moksha).

Nearest airport is Jolly Grant (315 km).
By Train:
Rishikesh (295 km) and Haridwar (310 km).
By Road: Well
connected by road from Haridwar, Rishikesh, and Dehradun. Regular buses and taxis are
available.
Best Time to Visit
May to October (Temple remains closed in winter due to heavy snowfall).
The temple opens on
Akshaya Tritiya (April/May) and closes around Diwali
(Oct/Nov).
